You’ve probably heard of the All-Father, Oden, and even the Yule-Father, Santa, but you may be wondering: who is the Awl Father? Mostly, it’s just a clever pun to describe Scott Howell, our head craftsman and founder. As a father, he enjoys a good pun. Don’t we all?
As for our business, we came out of a graduation present request. Colin, Scott’s son, requested a gaming table with a screen in it so he could run digital maps at his live (in person) games. Colin’s wife, Elenya (founder of Artburn), pyrographed the head of a lion into the table. It was our first table, we learned a lot, and it was our first masterpiece.
We continue making improvements to our tables and adding features and options. Now, we are skilled in making premium quality wooden tables, handcrafted wooden tables, luxury wooden tables, and all of them are solid hardwood tables.

Actually, every wood part on the table is made from the same species of wood. We never use plywood, particle board, plastic, or other cheap materials.
Scott Howell (Dad), Founder – The “Awl Father,” our patriarch and lead craftsman. The master mind behind the products and the company. Scott may love working as much as playing. Now he gets to do both. We all gained our senses of humor from him and our work ethic. Scott loves woodworking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Diane Howell (Mom), Administration – The brains behind the great man (Scott). Diane keeps us all in the green and makes sure we are making smart business and personal moves. She loves time with her family, cooking, and can craft better than anyone I’ve ever known. She instilled in us all gratitude, compassion, and common sense. None of this would be possible without her guiding hand. What else could you want in a mother?
Colin Howell (Son), User Experience – The personality for it all. Colin is our Dungeon Master, which is a whole job all by itself. He keeps us laughing and has a way of making you feel like you belong and you matter. He has strong opinions and loves a good, friendly debate. He adores his son and loves his family. Everyone is Colin’s friend, and everyone is valuable to Colin. If you find him in our booth at a convention, ask him about your favorite fandom. He’ll make you think, if you can stop laughing long enough!
Elenya Howell (Daughter-in-law), Art – The artist. Elenya is the creator of Artburn, a pyrography (wood burning) art Etsy shop. Elenya can do anything artistic. She picks things up and creates astoundingly beautiful works of art on her first try. She is one of the kindest, accepting, and caring people I have ever had the pleasure to know. She loves books, writing, crafting, and movies. She loves her son, her family, and her friends. All are welcome at Elenya’s house.
Keith Calderwood (Son-in-law), Technology –The software and tech guy. Keith is the brains behind the technology we have been able to implement into our tables. Keith runs the stream for our Twitch games and edits for our YouTube channel. He figured out our touch screen technology and continues to work out the math on some other cool gaming technologies we have in the works. Keith loves video games, sports, and his lab-mix, Millie. And his family, of course. He is an amazing father, husband, and friend. He may seem quiet to some, but he listens and he truly cares. He is always happy to help anyone who crosses his path.
Rhiana Calderwood (Daughter), Marketing –The words, sales, and service woman. Rhiana writes the descriptions and summaries for the products and the social media videos and posts. She is they hype gal, giving everyone around her the boost they need to dig in and make miracles happen. She loves animals, children (especially her own), gardening, singing, and just about anything else you want to do. She loves spending time with her family and friends. She never meets a stranger, and strives to make everyone around her feel loved.
Coryn Shannon (Daughter), Social Media –The trendy one. Coryn is our resident Gen Z who runs our social media accounts. She is energetic, fun-loving, and all kinds of entertaining. She looks for the best in everyone she meets and she doesn’t abide by boxes. She is loving, and loyal, and protective. She is smart, capable, and creative. She gets things done and works hard at the things she loves. Coryn enjoys dogs, movies, games, and the outdoors. We rely on her to keep us all up to date and as “with it” as we can be. Her love, hard work, and dedication are inspiring to us all.
